Superhero costumes for GOSHxSuperhope
Now in its second year, GOSHxSuperhope is an initiative which aims to look beyond a child’s medical condition and bring their inner superhero to life. When Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) asked Atelier Spatz to join again to make the bespoke superhero costumes, we couldn’t have been more delighted.
Superhope aims to have a positive impact on the journey of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) families by transforming children into superheroes and showing them first-hand the real power of imagination.
The process involved the kids right from the start, asking them to imagine what kind of superhero they would be. Best-selling comic book artist, Amrit Birdi, turned the kids ideas into sketches and Jo De Santis transformed all sketches into real costumes. Once all the costumes were detailed and made, they were revealed to the children during a photoshoot with Ian Derry. The process was documented by a team from Archers Mark and all superpowers were animated in CGI by Escape Studios.
“Today I’ve seen a smile on his face, I haven’t seen for two years.”
