Private commission are always a special pleasure. Whether we are working with an existing design or I draw up a design for the client, bringing a sketch to life is always rewarding.

And each commission has it’s own challenges. In the case of this Belle dress there were some unexpected challenges_ matching different shades of yellow in organza, silk, damask, satin and cotton as well as finding the right kind of gold embroidery that wouldn’t weight down the organza. For this made to measure project we made a toile and sent it to the client for fitting. The pleated silk chiffon overlay had to be finished by hand and was stabilised with corset boning. For the underskirt, we gathered over 24 meters of tulle.
